Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The Owner insures the yacht and equipment against fire, marine and collision risks and third-party damage, with an excess (amount blank in the template).
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~20 HP engine burns roughly 1.6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 34 L ≈ €66 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The yacht is for private pleasure only, so no racing and no towing other craft except in an emergency. You also can't fish or take archaeological objects in breach of Greek law, and no paid professional crew may be aboard without our prior written agreement.
Can I sail at night?
Night sailing is allowed only if all navigation lights are working. You also shouldn't sail in areas that aren't sufficiently covered by your charts.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
Please don't leave port if winds are forecast above 6 Beaufort, if the harbour authorities ban sailing, or if conditions look doubtful. Reduce sail when needed to avoid straining the rig and sails.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
Your party must include at least 1 qualified skipper and 1 experienced crew member. We may ask you to show your skills with a short sail with us aboard. If you don't pass, we may end the agreement or put a seaman aboard, if available, for as many days as safety requires.
What should I do if something breaks or gets damaged?
Phone us right away. For any damage or accident, ask the Port Authority to make a written record and tell us at the same time. Get our consent before arranging repairs, and keep receipts for any repairs from normal wear so we can refund you at the end.
