Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The owner insures the yacht under Greek law N.2743/99: at least EUR 300,000 for death or personal injury of guests and third parties, at least EUR 150,000 for third-party material damage, and at least EUR 90,000 for sea pollution.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~53 HP engine burns roughly 4.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 88 L ≈ €172 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Can I bring my dog or another pet on board?
Not automatically. No pets or other animals may come aboard unless we have given our written consent beforehand, so please ask us before you book.
Can we sail at night or cruise all day?
Time under way is limited to 6 hours a day, and the captain may stretch that to 8 hours at most. Night navigation is not allowed unless the captain decides it is necessary to avoid bad weather.
How many people can come aboard?
The number of guests allowed is set in your charter agreement. If we approve extra guests, they can be on board only while the yacht is securely moored in port. You are responsible for the safety and entertainment of any children in your party.
What does the captain do, and who handles the crew?
We provide the captain and crew, who are uniformed, fed and insured. The captain follows your reasonable requests on where and how to cruise, but he can decline anything unsafe, anything that would stop you returning on time, or anything that breaks the use rules. You can raise any concern with him first.
What happens if bad weather or a breakdown affects my trip?
We don't guarantee comfort in bad weather, and the captain decides when conditions are unsafe. If the yacht is disabled for up to 48 hours, you receive a pro rata refund or an extension. If it cannot be repaired within 48 hours, you can end the charter, get a pro rata refund and recover reasonable costs of getting back to the return port.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
