Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The yacht has hull insurance and third-party liability insurance (without deductible), and their cost is included in the Charter Fee. Hull insurance may not cover onboard accidents, personal belongings, or wilful misconduct or gross negligence.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~40 HP engine burns roughly 3.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 67 L ≈ €101 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Can I bring my dog on board?
Pets are only allowed with the operator's prior written consent, so please ask us before you book and get approval in writing.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat can't be used for races or regattas, training, carrying goods or paying passengers, or any other commercial purpose. You also can't sub-charter it or lend it to others without our written consent.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
Don't leave a safe harbour if Force 7 or more is forecast, and follow the charter base's instructions when gusts are forecast above 25 knots. If your anchorage becomes unsafe, move to the nearest safe refuge and tell us as soon as you can.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You'll be told the permitted cruising area before departure, and you need our written approval to leave it. We may restrict the area or sailing times because of weather, safety, official restrictions or insurance terms, and we'll tell you in advance where we can.
What sailing experience does my skipper need?
Your skipper must show the right licences and have the experience to handle the boat and crew safely. We may ask for proof of past experience and check competence before handover. If we're not satisfied, we can provide or require a professional skipper at your cost, or refuse to hand over the boat.
When is the best time to sail in Turkey?
April–October along the Turquoise Coast (Bodrum, Göcek, Fethiye); hot, dry summers with gentle afternoon breezes ideal for cruising.
