Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The Owner insures the yacht and her equipment against fire, marine and collision risks, third party damage, and loss or damage in excess of an amount stated on page 1.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~40 HP engine burns roughly 3.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 67 L ≈ €131 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
Your group must include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced crew member at all times. The skipper is one of your own passengers. We may ask you to show your competence by sailing the yacht with us aboard. If it isn't up to standard, we can place a seaman aboard at your cost or end the charter.
Can I sail in strong wind or bad weather?
Please don't leave a port or anchorage if the wind is or is forecast to be over 6 Beaufort, or if the harbour authorities ban sailing. The yacht is a recreational vessel, so we can't guarantee bad-weather use or that every planned itinerary will be possible.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can sail within the Greek seas only. Plan your route so the farthest stop is reached in the first third of your charter. Two days before the end, be within 40 nautical miles of the return port.
Are there limits on how I can use the yacht?
The yacht is for private pleasure only. Racing, towing other vessels (except in an emergency) and subletting without our written consent are not allowed. You also can't take unlisted guests, add paid professional crew, or break Greek laws on fishing, diving, customs or archaeological finds.
How many people can I bring aboard?
Up to the yacht's maximum capacity, and only the people named on your crew list.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
