Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Vessel covered by third-party liability insurance (compulsory) and comprehensive (Casco) insurance up to registered value. Casco covers damage exceeding deposit amount except intentional damage or gross negligence.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~57 HP engine burn roughly 4.6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 97 L ≈ €181 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I sail outside Croatian waters?
You must sail within Croatian territorial waters. Leaving them is only possible with our prior written consent.
What can't we do with the boat?
You may not use the boat commercially, for professional fishing, as a sailing school, for towing, or to take part in regattas or races without our prior consent. Please don't sublet or lend the boat, and never carry more people than it's registered for.
When should we stay in port for safety?
Sail only in safe weather and good visibility, and never at night. Don't leave port if the authorities have banned sailing, if fuel is low, or if a part vital to safe sailing is out of order.
Can we bring a pet?
Pets such as dogs, cats and birds are only allowed with our prior permission, and an extra cleaning fee applies per the current price list.
What's expected for daily engine care?
Please check the engine oil level every day. Damage caused by running the engine with too little oil isn't covered and would be your responsibility.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
