Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The hull, mast, machinery and fixed equipment are insured, including crash, collision, oil spill and removal of the boat from the water. Persons aboard are covered.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~31 HP engine burns roughly 2.5 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 53 L ≈ €99 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. You can't sublet the boat, use it commercially, take part in competitive regattas without our written approval, or carry undeclared or prohibited items. Please also keep to local rules and avoid areas closed to navigation.
Can I sail at night?
No, night sailing isn't allowed, and neither is sailing in unsafe weather. Plan your days so you're safely in port before dark.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You need to stay within Croatian territorial waters. If you'd like to go further, you'll need special written approval from us first.
What happens if our skipper doesn't have enough experience?
Our base manager checks the skipper's skills and licences before you leave. If they decide the experience isn't sufficient, they can stop the boat leaving the harbour and assign a professional skipper at your cost.
How many people can come aboard?
Only the people named on your crew list. Please make sure it's complete before you embark, as extra guests aren't allowed.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
