Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Extended Skippers liability insurance strongly recommended
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~30 HP engine burn roughly 2.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 50 L ≈ €86 at €1.71/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Spain?
A recognised sailing licence is required, with an ICC typically requested for non-Spanish skippers chartering a bareboat.
Will my sailing experience be checked?
Yes. You or your appointed skipper must have a good command of seamanship and sufficient experience commanding a yacht of this class. If the necessary competence cannot be shown, we may decline to hand over the yacht or appoint a skipper at your expense.
Who is allowed on board?
Only members of your immediate group may come aboard. You cannot use the yacht for business or trade, hand it over or hire it to a third party without our written consent, or carry hazardous goods or materials.
Can I sail anywhere I like?
You must stay within our maritime cruising region. Leaving it requires our prior written consent.
What are the rules in bad weather?
Do not leave a protected harbor if winds over force 7 on the Beaufort scale are forecast. Always wear sailing shoes on board and inform yourself in advance about the area, including currents and sea-level changes in strong winds.
How should I return the yacht?
Return it in proper working order and orderly condition, with all equipment properly stowed and tanks full. If not, the cost of refilling tanks and stowing equipment will be deducted from the deposit.
