Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Tenant is responsible for any loss or damage not covered by insurance.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~30 HP engine burn roughly 2.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 50 L ≈ €75 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Where are we allowed to sail?
The yacht stays within Turkish territorial waters and within a 100 nautical mile radius of Fethiye Bay, your home port, along the area shown on the sailing map. Leaving this area is only possible with our written permission.
Is there a limit on how far we can sail each day?
Yes, please plan for a maximum of around 25 nautical miles (about 6 engine hours) of cruising per day, and keep to the coastal zone. We also ask you to share your cruise plans and route with us each day.
Can we sail at night?
For safety and collision-prevention rules, night cruising isn't permitted after 17:30 in winter (November to April) or after 19:30 in summer (May to October), so please plan to be settled before those times.
Can we bring pets, and is smoking allowed on board?
Pets aren't allowed for hygiene reasons, and smoking is not permitted inside the yacht, cabins or enclosed areas. A cleaning and disinfection fee of at least 250 EUR applies if either rule is broken.
Will our skipper's experience be checked?
If you're not handling the yacht yourself, your captain must hold the proper licence and experience, and we may test their knowledge against our own rules. If we don't find the captain qualified, we may assign another at your cost.
When is the best time to sail in Turkey?
April–October along the Turquoise Coast (Bodrum, Göcek, Fethiye); hot, dry summers with gentle afternoon breezes ideal for cruising.
