Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The boat is delivered with kasko (fully comprehensive, Mediterranean, up to total loss) insurance, whose deductible is covered by the charterer's security deposit, and with compulsory third-party liability insurance.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~51 HP engine burns roughly 4.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 86 L ≈ €168 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Can I bring my dog or other pets on board?
Unfortunately not. We don't allow any animals on board during the charter.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The boat is for pleasure cruising by you and your crew only. Chartering it out, carrying passengers or goods, racing in regattas, and towing or being towed (except in a real emergency) are not allowed.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
For safety you shouldn't sail in seas above force 6 or when forecasts warn of dangerous conditions, and you must follow port authority bans. Plan your route so you can return on time, even by heading back early if bad weather is forecast.
Where am I allowed to sail?
Our recommended sailing area runs from North East Sardinia to South Corsica. If you want to go beyond it or sail 12 to 50 nautical miles offshore, tell us when you book so we can fit extra safety equipment, which is charged to you.
How many people can come aboard, and who can sail?
The boat is for you and your crew only, within the stated maximum number of people and the minimum crew requirement. We may also ask to see the skipper's licence and can refuse the handover if we find the skipper's skills insufficient for the boat.
