Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The Charter Company insures the boat and its equipment. The insurance does not cover personal belongings, lost inventory and equipment, the tender, the outboard engine, sails damaged by bad weather, or persons.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~75 HP engine burns roughly 6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 126 L ≈ €189 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Can I bring my dog on board?
Pets are only allowed if we give written consent when the contract is signed, so please ask us before you book. You are responsible for any damage a pet causes.
Can I sail at night?
Not unless you have our written permission beforehand. Night sailing without it isn't allowed.
Where am I allowed to sail?
Your charter is mainly in Turkish territorial waters. If you'd like to visit the Greek Islands or sail elsewhere, tell us in advance so we can arrange the paperwork and customs clearance. This needs our written confirmation, and customs fees and taxes are at your cost.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
You or your skipper must be able to show you can handle the yacht in the cruising area. We may ask for a skills demonstration, which you pay for and which counts as charter time. If we judge you not qualified, you can sail with an approved captain, or we may end the charter and keep 50% of the price.
What should I do if something breaks during my charter?
Tell us immediately, and in any case within an hour of an accident, and photograph the damage. For minor issues we send technical service and try to repair without interrupting your cruise. For serious damage like grounding or engine failure, limit the damage and wait for our instructions.
When is the best time to sail in Turkey?
April–October along the Turquoise Coast (Bodrum, Göcek, Fethiye); hot, dry summers with gentle afternoon breezes ideal for cruising.
