Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: A separate non-refundable damage deposit covers losses or damage not recoverable under the yacht insurance policy. Amounts by LOA: EUR 200 (up to 41), EUR 250 (up to 45), EUR 300 (over 45).
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~75 HP engine burns roughly 6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 126 L ≈ €236 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I sail at night or in strong wind?
No. Night sailing is not allowed, and you must stay out of unsafe weather and sea conditions, with a limit of 6 Beaufort (wind over 26 knots). Please plan your route with that in mind.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can sail within the territorial waters of Croatia and must avoid areas closed to navigation. If you want to go beyond Croatian waters, you need our special written approval first.
Can I use the boat for racing or commercial purposes?
No. Sub-chartering and commercial use are not allowed, and you need our written approval before joining any competitive regatta.
How many people can come aboard?
Only the people listed on your crew list. You can't take extra guests aboard beyond those you've declared.
What happens if I return late or bad weather delays me?
Late returns are charged at double the daily charter fee for each commenced day, with each hour counted as half a day, plus any costs to us. If bad weather delays you, you bear the resulting costs, so we advise returning to base the evening before check-out. Contact the base manager straight away if a delay is unavoidable.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
