Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The yacht is insured under Greek legislation. The Charterer is responsible for damage, loss or liability caused by their or their guests' negligence or actions that the Shipowner's insurance does not cover.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~75 HP engine burns roughly 6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 126 L ≈ €246 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Can I bring my dog on board?
Animals are only allowed on board with our prior permission, so please ask us before you book and bring a pet.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The boat is for recreational use only, so no paid passengers, sailing lessons or racing. Towing, water skiing, and bringing windsurf boards, kite gear or canoes need our approval first.
What happens if bad weather affects my trip or my return?
You must follow Port Authority orders and avoid sailing in seas above force 5 or in dangerous forecasts. Please plan to be within 40 NM of the return base two days before the end and docked by 17:00 the day before. Late returns caused by weather still carry the late-return penalty.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
The skipper needs a valid sailing license, and at least one crew member must be able to act as co-skipper, with a certificate or a signed self-declaration. We may test the skipper's skills, and if we judge them insufficient we can require a professional skipper or stop you leaving the marina.
What should I do if something breaks during my charter?
Contact us immediately and don't make repairs yourself or keep sailing without our approval. If a major component like the engine, rigging or sails fails through no fault of yours and the boat is unusable for over 12 hours, we compensate the lost time. Non-essential equipment such as the fridge or echo-sounder isn't compensated.
