Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Personal property of skipper and crew not insured, recommended to take separate insurance
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~75 HP engine burn roughly 6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 126 L ≈ €236 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You may navigate within Croatian territorial waters. If you wish to sail beyond them, please let us know no later than 30 days before your start date.
Will you check the skipper's competence?
Yes. If we or the base manager feel the skipper lacks the needed skills, we may ask you to take a professional skipper for an extra charge. If you'd rather not skipper yourself, name a qualified skipper before sailing; that person is co-responsible for the boat.
Are there things I'm not allowed to do on board?
Please don't sublet the boat or use it commercially, including professional fishing or diving, and never operate it under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
What happens if there's a late return?
Please return the boat on time at the agreed place. A delay of less than 3 hours is charged at the daily rate, and any delay over 3 hours is charged at three days' rate.
What should I do if something breaks down at sea?
Call us straight away on the numbers in the boat's documents so we can arrange a repair; if it's fixed within 24 hours there's no reimbursement due. For serious damage, an accident or injury, get an official report from the authorities, and if towing is needed always use the boat's own line and don't agree any salvage terms.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
