Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Lessee responsible for damage due to improper handling.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 435 HP engine burn roughly 65 L/h — about €122 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Where am I allowed to sail?
The sailing area is limited to Croatian territorial waters. If you wish to sail outside this area, you'll need our written consent in advance.
Can I bring a pet on board?
Pets are welcome on board only with our prior consent, so please ask us before you book.
Are there any restrictions on how I use the boat?
Professional passenger transport, racing in regattas, towing (except in emergencies), and lending the boat to others are not permitted. Night sailing is only allowed in good visibility and safe weather, and you must never operate the boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
You should not leave a sheltered port in bad weather. For sailing yachts, please do not leave port under full sail in winds of force 7 or more, and always plan your route so the boat can return safely even in severe conditions.
How many people can be on board?
You may only take on board as many people as there are berths and pieces of safety equipment, and this includes children.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
