Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The vessel has compulsory third-party liability insurance and comprehensive (Casco) insurance up to the registered value. Casco covers damage exceeding the deposit, but not intentional damage or gross negligence.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. Estimated from engine power: at a typical planing cruise this boat's 250 HP engine burns roughly 38 L/h — about €71 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or cat on board?
Pets are only allowed if we have agreed to it in advance. If we approve, an extra cleaning fee applies according to our current price list.
Can I sail at night or outside Croatia?
No night sailing is allowed, and you should sail only in safe weather and good visibility. You must stay within Croatian territorial waters unless we give written consent beforehand.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The boat can't be used commercially, for fishing professionally, for sailing school, or sublet or lent to others. Regattas and races need our prior consent, and towing another boat isn't allowed.
How many people can come aboard?
Only as many as the vessel is registered for, and everyone aboard must be on the crew list. We need the list with names, birth details and ID details at least one week before your charter starts.
What if the crew doesn't have enough sailing experience?
If we judge at handover that the skipper or crew lacks the navigation skills needed, we can appoint an official skipper at the current price-list rate. If you refuse the skipper, we may stop you from sailing and keep the amount paid.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
