Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The yacht is insured against third-party damages under the conditions of the operator's insurer. Damage must be reported immediately to the operator or the insurer, otherwise it is not covered and the charterer is personally liable for the full damage.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. Estimated from engine power: at a typical planing cruise this boat's 200 HP engine burns roughly 30 L/h — about €56 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not personally — this boat requires a skipper, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or other pet on board?
Pets are not allowed on the yacht by default. If you'd like to bring one, you need to agree it with us in advance.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The yacht can't be sub-chartered, used commercially, entered in regattas or races, or used for professional or night fishing. Please also don't sail at night or in unsafe weather.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You need to stay within Croatian territorial waters. Please sail only in safe weather and good visibility.
What happens if I return the boat late?
Up to 3 hours late costs one extra day's charter fee. More than 3 hours late costs triple the daily fee plus any other expenses. Bad weather isn't accepted as an excuse, so we recommend arriving back the evening before your charter ends.
What if I'm not experienced enough to skipper the boat?
We can refuse to hand over the yacht if the skipper isn't competent to operate it. In that case we can assign a skipper to your charter, which is charged separately.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
