Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer responsible for all damages occurring while yacht in Charterer's responsibility except those resulting from normal and natural wear.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~100 HP engine burn roughly 8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 168 L ≈ €328 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Will my crew's competence be tested?
Yes. We may ask you and your crew to demonstrate competence by sailing the yacht at sea with our representative aboard. If you do not satisfy us, we may end the agreement or place a skipper aboard at your expense for as long as we consider necessary for safety.
How many people can be on board?
No more than 12 passengers, in line with the boat's official documents, and only those listed on the crew list. Crew changes are allowed under the same contract with a new crew list for the port authorities.
Are there restrictions on how I can use the yacht?
The yacht is for the private pleasure of you and your party only. You cannot race her, tow other boats except in an emergency, take her outside Greek seas, or sublet her without our written consent.
Where am I allowed to sail and where must I be near the end?
Plan the itinerary so you reach the farthest port of call within the first third of the charter, and within the last two days stay no more than 40 nautical miles from the return point. Do not seek or take archaeological objects, and respect Greek customs and fishing laws.
When must I stay in port for safety?
Do not leave port or anchorage if wind is or is forecast over force 7 on the Beaufort scale, if authorities have banned sailing, or if vital gear such as engine, sails, rigging, bilge pump, anchor, navigation lights or safety equipment is not working. Avoid night sailing without all navigation lights on and a sufficient watch on deck.
