Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: All vessels have Kasko cover with a deductible up to the deposit amount in the Price List. The policy includes compulsory passenger insurance and compulsory third-party insurance.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~54 HP engine burns roughly 4.3 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 90 L ≈ €168 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or other pet on board?
Pets are only allowed if we give prior written consent, so please ask before you book. Bringing a pet without that approval breaks the charter terms.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat can't be sublet or used commercially, and racing or regattas need our prior written consent. Night sailing also needs our written consent, and fishing or diving needs valid licences. Skippering under the influence of alcohol or drugs is never allowed.
What if the weather turns bad?
You shouldn't leave port when winds above 25 knots are forecast or the port authority has banned departures. In gale-force conditions, tell us your exact position so we can help. Weather delays on the return day aren't excused, so plan to be about 40 NM from the base two days before check-out.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
The skipper must be capable of handling the yacht. We may ask for a short demonstration sail at handover, which counts as charter time. If we feel you're not ready, we'll assign a professional skipper at the Price List rate. Refusing that skipper ends the charter without a refund.
What should I do if something breaks during the trip?
Contact us right away and follow our instructions. Agree any rescue or towing fee before accepting help. Minor wear-and-tear repairs up to EUR 150 can be paid by you and are reimbursed when you return to the base, with keeping receipts being wise. Unreported damage is treated as your responsibility.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
