About this boat

With a skipper aboard, nobody needs a licence or any sailing experience. The maestral fills in around midday at force 3-4 and fades by evening, with sheltered water and short hops between harbours, so most nights end on a town quay with somewhere good to eat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: All vessels have kasko (hull) insurance with a deductible up to the deposit amount in the current price list. Compulsory passenger insurance and third-party insurance are included.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~56 HP engine burns roughly 4.5 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 95 L ≈ €178 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not personally — this boat requires a skipper, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or other pets on board?
Pets are only allowed with our prior written consent, so please ask us before you book. Do not bring them aboard without approval.
Can I sail at night or take part in a regatta?
Night sailing and racing or regattas are only allowed with our prior written consent. The vessel also cannot be handed to anyone else or used to carry people or goods for money.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
You should not leave port if more than 25 knots of wind is forecast or the port authorities have banned departure. In gale-force weather, tell us your exact location so we can help. Weather delays at the end of the trip are not excused, so keep the boat within a safe distance of the base in the last 24 hours.
Can I sail outside Croatian waters?
Yes, but you must tell us in writing at least 45 days before your charter starts. We arrange an additional vessel for that trip and the extra cost is charged to you.
What if I'm not experienced enough to skipper?
At handover we may ask you to show your sailing skills at sea, at your cost, and that time counts within your charter. If we judge you are not competent, one of our skippers joins you at the price-list rate. If you refuse the skipper, you cannot leave port and the paid charter price is kept.
