Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The Shipowner insures the yacht and her equipment as required by Greek legislation, against fire, marine and collision risks and third-party liability.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Where am I allowed to sail?
The cruising area is Greece. You can only go beyond it if we agree in writing beforehand.
Can I sail in bad weather?
You must not leave a port or anchorage if the wind is or is forecast to be above Beaufort 6, or if the port authorities ban sailing. Please remember this is a recreational yacht, and we can't guarantee comfort in rough conditions or that every itinerary is feasible.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
Your party must include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced sailor. We may ask you to show your competence by sailing the yacht with us aboard. If we're not satisfied, we may appoint a skipper at your expense, or end the charter if that isn't possible or you don't agree.
Can I use the boat for racing, towing or taking paying guests?
No. The boat is for your private pleasure and your party only. Racing needs our written agreement, towing is only allowed in an emergency, and carrying passengers or subletting isn't permitted.
What happens if something breaks during my charter?
Give us written notice straight away. If a machinery breakdown that isn't your fault stops you from reasonably using the boat and isn't fixed within 8 working hours of us receiving your notice, you can claim a pro-rata refund or, if we agree, an extension.
