Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The owner insures the yacht and equipment as per Greek law against fire, marine and collision risks and third-party damage. The charterer is relieved of liability covered by the policy unless the loss is caused by gross negligence or willful default.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~80 HP engine burns roughly 6.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 134 L ≈ €261 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Can I use the boat for racing, towing or chartering it on?
The boat is for your party's private pleasure only. Racing needs prior agreement and a Racing Risk insurance, and towing other craft is only allowed in an emergency. You may not sublet the boat without our written consent.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You must stay within the Greek seas. Motor yachts are limited to the Saronic & Argolic Gulf and the Ionian Sea. Plan your route to reach your farthest port within the first third of your charter, and to be within 40 nautical miles of the return base two days before the end.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
Your party must include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced crew member. We may ask you to show your competence on a short sea test with us aboard. If it isn't satisfactory, we may place a skipper aboard at your expense, if one is available, or end the charter.
How many people can come aboard?
Only the people on your crew/passenger manifest may be aboard, up to the maximum number stated in your charter conditions. Guests not on the manifest cannot be accommodated.
What happens if I return late or bad weather delays me?
Late returns are charged at the daily charter price plus 50% for each day or part of a day, even if weather caused the delay. For your safety, don't leave port if the authorities have banned sailing or conditions look doubtful, and allow time to reach the base.
