Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Guests must have adequate travel insurance before boarding, covering personal possessions and injury. Travel insurance is personal responsibility of guest.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~75 HP engine burn roughly 6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 126 L ≈ €236 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can we bring pets or children on board?
Pets aren't permitted on board. Guests must be at least 18, and children under 18 can only join if you charter the whole boat for the week or get our express consent before booking.
What does the skipper do, and who decides the route?
Your skipper runs the boat, gives a safety briefing before every departure, and has final say on board. They follow the planned itinerary but can change it for safety or weather, and if the group requests a change it's at the skipper's discretion.
Are meals and a hostess included?
A hostess is included at no extra charge, and we provide breakfast and lunch on full sailing days (a basic breakfast on disembarkation day) in Mediterranean, vegetarian or vegan styles. The crew keep a general standard of cleanliness but aren't there to clean up after you, so please tidy up after yourself.
What happens in bad weather?
Your safety comes first, so if winds reach or are forecast above 25 knots the boat must stay in the shelter of the marina, harbour or bay. This may change the itinerary, and any water taxis or ferries needed to reach a planned port would be at your expense.
Are there rules about using the toilet?
While in a marina please use the marina's shore facilities rather than the onboard head, as pumping into marina water can lead to a fine that's passed on to you. Never pump personal hygiene products through the toilet; clearing a blockage is charged at 250 EUR per toilet.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
