Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: All crew members must have current personal holiday travel insurance covering accident and health for charter duration
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~150 HP engine burn roughly 12 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 252 L ≈ €491 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
What does the skipper take care of?
Your professional skipper handles navigation, mooring, anchoring and maneuvering, keeps the deck and cockpit in good order, and arranges port formalities. They typically sail up to about 8 hours a day and won't sail at night.
Will the skipper cook and clean for us?
No, cooking and cleaning aren't part of the skipper's duties. They're happy to act as a local guide and share tips on anchorages, sights and restaurants, but day-to-day galley and tidying are up to your group.
Who decides the route and whether we can leave port in strong winds?
The skipper plans the route together with you, balancing your wishes with safety and enjoyment. If winds are very strong, it's the skipper's call whether to depart, and they'll explain the situation and agree an alternative plan with you.
Do we need to provide for the skipper on board?
Yes, the skipper is given a sleeping berth on board and the crew provides their meals during the charter.
What if we're not happy with our skipper?
If the skipper doesn't perform as described, or you have other serious concerns, you can request a change of skipper by contacting us and explaining the reasons.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
