Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit.
Do I need a sailing licence in United Kingdom?
No licence is legally required to sail at sea, but charter companies expect an RYA Day Skipper certificate or equivalent (and an ICC for inland waterways).
When is the best time to sail in United Kingdom?
April–October, busiest June–August; cool, changeable Atlantic weather with the Solent and west coast as classic cruising grounds.
