Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Client responsible for all damages not caused by normal wear and tear
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~1360 HP engine burn roughly 108.8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 2285 L ≈ €4273 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring pets or smoke on board?
Pets such as dogs, cats and birds are not allowed on the vessel. Smoking is also prohibited anywhere on board, including cabins, cockpit and flybridge, with a 500-euro charge if you do.
Are there limits on how and where I can sail?
You must stay within the designated territorial waters, keep your speed under 20 knots, and stay overnight in harbour. The yacht can't be used for commercial purposes, professional fishing, regattas, subletting or towing another vessel except in an emergency. All our vessels have GPS tracking for safety and insurance.
Will my sailing competence be checked at handover?
Yes. If we judge that you're not competent to operate the yacht safely for any reason, including being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, we may decline to hand it over and assign a skipper at an extra charge. You can also request a professional skipper from us at any time.
What should I do if there's damage or a breakdown at sea?
Inform us immediately about any defect, damage or accident, and take action to limit further harm. For repairs the yacht needs to be reachable from the coast; if a defect comes from misuse you'll cover the costs, while genuine wear-and-tear may earn a price reduction.
What happens if I return the yacht late?
For a delay up to three hours you'll pay one daily charter fee, and for over three hours double the daily fee plus any other expenses. Bad weather is not accepted as justification, so please plan your route with time to spare and return to base the evening before by 18:30.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
