About this boat

The maestral fills in around midday at force 3-4 and fades by evening, so sailing happens in the afternoon and the hops are short enough to tie up at a town quay before dinner. A good first charter for families or two couples sharing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The vessel is insured on the insurer's terms, which are handed to the charterer at takeover. Damage must be reported to the operator without delay, otherwise it is not recognised and the charterer is personally liable.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~20 HP engine burns roughly 1.6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 34 L ≈ €64 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or other pet on board?
Pets are not allowed on board by default. If you'd like to bring one, you need to agree it with us in advance.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat can't be sub-chartered, lent out, raced, used commercially (including fishing or sailing school), used to carry paying passengers or used for towing. It also can't be operated under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can sail within Croatian territorial waters. Going anywhere else needs our written approval first. We also ask for your rough itinerary at handover.
Will you check our sailing experience?
We may ask you and your crew to demonstrate your ability to handle the boat at sea, with us on board. If we're not satisfied, we can end the contract without a refund or appoint a sailor acceptable to both sides at your cost.
What happens if bad weather affects my trip?
Please don't leave port or anchorage if winds are, or are forecast to be, above 30 knots, or if the port authorities have banned sailing. If bad weather makes you late back, tell us in writing and the late fee is the normal rate plus 50% instead of the usual triple rate.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
