Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Responsible for damages not covered by insurance
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~50 HP engine burn roughly 4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 84 L ≈ €126 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
What if our boat-handling skills are in doubt at handover?
If we have any doubt about your seamanship, boat handling, or qualifications, we may assign a skipper to the yacht, with the skipper fee paid by you. In that case the charter still goes ahead as agreed.
Where are we allowed to sail?
You must stay within the agreed sailing area inside Turkish territorial waters. Taking the boat outside Turkish waters is not insured and is not permitted, and you would be responsible for any resulting damage or penalties.
How many people can sail, and what are we responsible for?
You may carry no more passengers than agreed in the contract, and you are responsible for everyone’s safety and for making sure they are in good health to sail. You are also responsible for any visa or vaccination formalities for the countries in your sailing area.
Are there uses of the boat that are not allowed?
Yes. Please use the boat only within the law, never carry illegal goods or undeclared passengers, do not take part in any competition, and do not tow other yachts except for first aid. Please also avoid sailing in bad weather or at night unless you have no choice.
Can we let someone else use the boat?
No, you may not pass the boat to or sub-hire it to third parties without our approval. If a skipper is aboard, please follow their reasonable instructions on weather and safe sailing and never ask them to do anything against the law.
When is the best time to sail in Turkey?
April–October along the Turquoise Coast (Bodrum, Göcek, Fethiye); hot, dry summers with gentle afternoon breezes ideal for cruising.
