Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Comprehensive insurance for yacht property damage and liability insurance (minimum 1 million EUR/USD) exist. Losses from accidents on board, damage to charterer's goods, intentional or grossly negligent damage not covered by comprehensive insurance.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~50 HP engine burn roughly 4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 84 L ≈ €126 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Can I bring pets on board?
No, animals are not allowed on board. The terms also prohibit carrying any undeclared dutiable goods or dangerous materials.
Can I leave the agreed sailing area?
You may only leave the contractually agreed sea area with our express consent. We may also further restrict the area in space or time if navigation conditions are uncertain, for example by issuing a night-sailing ban.
Will you check the skipper's ability before handover?
Yes. We are entitled to check the skipper's ability to navigate before handing over the yacht, and may ask for proof of previous experience suitable for the boat and the sailing area. If the skipper is clearly not able to safely manage the boat, we may require a paid skipper to be hired.
When must I stay in a safe harbour because of weather?
You should not leave a sheltered port or berth if the forecast shows wind of 7 Beaufort or more for your next leg. From announced peak gusts above 25 knots you must follow the base's instructions on whether to sail or seek a safe harbour, otherwise damage claims may be refused.
How many people can be on board?
You may only take as many crew members as are agreed in your charter contract and approved for the yacht, and everyone must be named on the crew list before the charter starts.
When is the best time to sail in Turkey?
April–October along the Turquoise Coast (Bodrum, Göcek, Fethiye); hot, dry summers with gentle afternoon breezes ideal for cruising.
