Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Vessel carries compulsory third-party damage and liability insurance plus comprehensive insurance covering vessel value as recorded in policy. Comprehensive insurance covers damage above security deposit amount but excludes intentional damage or gross negligence.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~55 HP engine burn roughly 4.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 92 L ≈ €138 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You may sail only within Turkish territorial waters. Sailing beyond them is allowed only if we issue you a signed permit and the other required documents in advance.
Will my sailing experience be checked?
We may ask you or your nominated skipper to demonstrate your competence and skills at sea in front of our representative. If the skills aren't sufficient, we can provide an official skipper for an extra charge.
What happens in bad weather?
You must sail only in safe conditions and good visibility. Once gusts of more than 25 knots are forecast, you must follow the base's instructions on whether to sail or seek a safe anchorage. Bad weather is not a valid reason to return the boat late.
Can I bring a pet on board?
Pets are welcome only if you arrange it with us beforehand, and an additional charge applies according to our price list.
Are there any restrictions on how I use the boat?
Yes. You may not take part in regattas or races without our written permit, tow another vessel, exceed the boat's maximum number of people, or use the boat commercially. Smoking is not allowed in the cabins, though it's possible on deck with care.
When is the best time to sail in Turkey?
April–October along the Turquoise Coast (Bodrum, Göcek, Fethiye); hot, dry summers with gentle afternoon breezes ideal for cruising.
