Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The vessel is insured under the operator's insurer's terms, which are given to the charterer at takeover. The vessel crew and their personal luggage are insured.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~50 HP engine burns roughly 4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 84 L ≈ €157 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or other pet on board?
Pets such as dogs, cats and birds are not allowed by default. If you'd like to bring one, you need to agree this with us beforehand.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat is for private cruising only, so no regattas or races, commercial use, professional fishing, sailing school, sub-chartering, towing or carrying passengers or goods for a fee. Operating the boat under the influence of alcohol or narcotics is not allowed.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can sail within the territorial sea of Croatia. Going anywhere else needs our prior written approval. We also ask for your approximate itinerary at pick-up, and you should avoid areas you don't know well or that are closed to sailing.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
Please sail only in safe weather and good visibility. Don't leave port or anchorage if wind is, or is forecast to be, over 30 knots or if the port authorities have banned sailing. If bad weather makes you return late, the late fee is the regular daily charter rate plus 50% rather than the usual penalty.
Will you check my crew's sailing experience?
We may ask you and your crew to demonstrate your ability to handle the boat at sea, with one of our representatives on board. If we're not satisfied, we may appoint a sailor acceptable to both of us at your cost, or terminate the charter without a refund.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
