Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: The yacht has comprehensive (hull) insurance and ship liability insurance of at least EUR/USD 1 million with no deductible. Personal injury on board, the charterer's and crew's belongings, and intentional or grossly negligent damage are not covered.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~51 HP engine burns roughly 4.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 86 L ≈ €161 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or another pet on board?
Animals can only come aboard with the operator's prior written consent, so please ask us before you book.
What happens if the weather turns bad during my trip?
You must not leave a sheltered harbour if the forecast shows constant winds of 7 Bft or more. With announced gusts above 25 knots, our base manager decides whether you may sail or must head to port.
Where am I allowed to sail, and can I sail at night?
You must stay within the sea area set out in your charter documents unless we give express consent. We may restrict the area or impose a night-sailing ban if conditions are unusual. If you do sail at night, take special care.
What experience does our skipper need?
Your skipper must have the licences and the practical experience to handle the yacht safely in the agreed area. We may ask for proof of experience and check their ability before handover. If they clearly cannot manage, we may arrange a skipper for you, or refuse to hand over the yacht if you decline.
How many people can come aboard, and can I use the boat for racing or sublet it?
Only the people named on your crew list, up to the number the yacht is approved for, may be aboard. Regattas and commercial use such as training or passenger transport need our prior written consent. Subletting is not allowed.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
