Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer guarantees boat is insured for rental period inclusive of financial liability insurance clause. Insurance companies exempt €2,000 from repair costs; tenant pays this deductible amount.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~55 HP engine burn roughly 4.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 92 L ≈ €138 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Where can I sail?
Your sailing area is the territorial waters of Turkey, broadly from Antalya to Izmir/Cesme. Leaving Turkish waters is only possible with our written approval and the proper clearance in and out beforehand.
Do I need to be near the return port before the end?
Yes, please be no more than 20 nautical miles from the return port 24 hours before your return time. A late return brings a penalty of twice the daily share of the rental price for each 1 to 24 hours of delay, plus any costs caused to the next guest.
Will you check that I can handle the boat?
We may test your knowledge and experience as skipper. If we judge it insufficient, we can assign an assistant or another skipper at your cost, and the boat stays in the marina until one is arranged. If you don't hold the needed qualifications, we provide a qualified skipper.
Are there things I'm not allowed to do on board?
Please don't use the boat commercially, tow another vessel except in a genuine emergency, carry animals or dangerous materials, smoke in the cabins, or hold a Turkish-style barbecue (mangal) on board. Racing is only allowed with our written permission.
Who needs to be on the crew list?
Everyone on board must be listed on the Transit Log issued by the Port Authority, and any change needs a new one. Sailing with people not on the list can lead to heavy fines and the boat being held, with those costs charged to you.
When is the best time to sail in Turkey?
April–October along the Turquoise Coast (Bodrum, Göcek, Fethiye); hot, dry summers with gentle afternoon breezes ideal for cruising.
