Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer liable for all damage caused by their actions and failures.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~55 HP engine burn roughly 4.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 92 L ≈ €172 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You may sail within the territorial waters of Croatia. Cruising outside that area needs our written approval in advance.
Are there things I'm not allowed to do with the boat?
Please don't take part in regattas or races, sub-charter or lend the boat, use it commercially or for professional fishing, tow another vessel, or operate it under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Night sailing requires all navigation lights and proper lookout.
Can I bring a pet on board?
Pets such as dogs, cats or birds are not allowed on board unless you arrange it with us in advance.
Could you check our sailing ability before we set off?
Yes, we or our representative may ask you and your crew to demonstrate your ability to handle the boat at sea. If we feel the knowledge isn't sufficient, we may assign a skipper acceptable to both sides, at your cost.
What are the rules around bad weather?
Reef the sails in good time and sail only in safe conditions with good visibility. You should not leave port or anchorage when the wind is, or is expected to be, over 30 knots, or when the port authorities have prohibited sailing.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
