Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: The boat has third-party civil liability insurance and hull insurance for total and partial loss. The hull policy does not cover damage to the engine, inverter, propeller, sails, or broken accessories and equipment caused by misuse.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~75 HP engine burns roughly 6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 126 L ≈ €246 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Can I bring my dog or other pets on board?
No. Our terms do not allow any animals to be kept on board, so please plan for pets to stay ashore.
Where can I sail, and are there limits on how I use the boat?
The boat is for pleasure cruising only, in safe ports and anchorages, and you must stay within the area set in your contract. You need our authorisation to leave Italian waters, and written consent to take part in regattas.
What happens if bad weather affects my trip?
We can't be held responsible for delays or interrupted cruises caused by bad weather or port authority bans, and the charter period keeps running even if you can't sail for days. You should not leave port, or should head to the nearest safe port or anchorage, if conditions reach or are forecast to reach Beaufort force 7.
What if my skipper's experience isn't enough for this boat?
We or our representative can check the authorisations of the person commanding the boat. If we feel their skills aren't enough for this boat and for everyone's safety, we may offer one of our trusted commanders at your expense. If you decline, the contract ends and we keep what you've paid.
What should I do if something breaks during my charter?
Send us a detailed written report within 24 hours and get our written approval, including the cost, before arranging any repair. Repairs we haven't authorised in advance won't be reimbursed.
