Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Full cover insurance available as option. If not selected, security deposit required.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~120 HP engines burn roughly 9.6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 202 L ≈ €378 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You may sail within Croatian territorial waters; cruising beyond the coastal waters of the base needs our written permission. The vessel is for private use only, with no sub-chartering, regattas, racing, commercial use or professional fishing.
Can I bring a pet on board?
Yes, pets such as dogs, cats or birds are allowed if you tell us at least four weeks before your charter. They must weigh no more than 10kg, and an extra cleaning fee per animal may apply if the boat needs additional cleaning on return.
Will my ability to handle the boat be checked?
You must hold all the necessary certificates and provide them before boarding. Any test of your ability to operate the vessel forms part of your chartered time, and you must always sail sober and only in safe weather with good visibility.
Are there weather restrictions while sailing?
You should not leave port or anchorage when the wind is above 30 knots, when the authorities have forbidden sailing, or whenever conditions, the state of the vessel or your crew make safety uncertain. Sail only in areas you know well, using your charts, and never at night without all navigation lights and a proper watch.
What happens if I return the vessel late?
If you return late without notice you pay double the daily charter fee for each day overdue, rising further if you don't warn us beforehand. If extreme bad weather genuinely prevents an on-time return, you instead pay the regular daily rate plus 50% for each extra day.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
