Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer responsible for damages up to bond amount, except for normal wear and tear
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~86 HP engine burn roughly 6.9 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 145 L ≈ €271 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Will my sailing ability be checked before I set off?
Possibly. Before handover we may verify that the responsible skipper can handle the boat, and we can ask for proof of your previous experience. If we have genuine doubts about safe skippering, we may arrange a skipper at your expense or decline to hand over the yacht.
Are there any restrictions on how I use the boat?
Without our written consent you may not take part in regattas, leave protected ports in winds of 7 Beaufort or stronger, or use the yacht for training or paid transport. We may also restrict your route or prohibit night sailing in unsafe conditions.
Can I sail at night?
We ask you to take particular care during night travel, and in unsafe conditions we may prohibit night sailing altogether. Please plan your passages with the weather in mind.
What should I do if there's a breakdown or damage at sea?
Let us know without delay so we can advise you. You may handle minor wear-and-tear repairs up to 150 euros and we'll reimburse you against receipts; anything larger should be discussed with us first, except in an emergency.
What condition should the boat be in when I hand it back?
Please return the yacht ready for sailing and stowed, cleaned inside and out, with the gas canister and reserve attached and a full fuel tank. We can arrange cleaning for a surcharge if agreed in advance.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
