Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Personal insurance recommended
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~50 HP engine burn roughly 4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 84 L ≈ €157 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Will my skipper's competence be checked?
Yes. We may verify the skipper's competence at check-in, and if we find the skipper cannot handle the boat properly we can assign an official skipper for an extra fee. If you refuse the assigned skipper, departure is not permitted.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You must stay within Croatian territorial waters. You may not sublet or lend the boat, or use it for commercial purposes, professional fishing or diving.
What condition should the boat be returned in?
Please return the boat clean with full fuel tanks and the receipt for your last refuel, and with the waste tank emptied at least 10 nautical miles offshore. A full waste tank on return incurs a 70 euro pump-out charge.
Is there a penalty for returning the boat late?
Late return without good reason is charged in steps: over one hour late costs one day's rental, over two hours costs two days, and over three hours costs three days plus any extra costs we incur.
Are there limits on where I can be near the end of the charter?
Plan your route so that two days before the end of your stay you are within 40 nautical miles of the check-out port. Do not leave harbour or anchorage if winds above 25 knots are forecast or the port authorities have banned sailing.
