Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Must report any damages immediately and follow insurance company protocols
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 150 HP engine burn roughly 23 L/h — about €43 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Will our skipper's skills be checked before we sail?
Yes. If our base manager concludes that the person leading the yacht doesn't have the necessary skills and knowledge, they have the right to stop the yacht leaving the harbour. Please make sure whoever skippers is genuinely confident handling a yacht at sea.
Are there limits on where we can sail?
You'll need to stay within Croatian territorial waters; sailing beyond them needs our special written approval. Please also avoid any areas closed to navigation.
Can we sail in any weather?
Please sail only in safe conditions and not at night. As a firm limit, you shouldn't sail in winds above 6 on the Beaufort scale (more than about 26 knots).
Is racing or sub-chartering allowed?
No. You can't enter competitive regattas without our written approval, sub-charter the boat to anyone else, or use the yacht for commercial purposes. Only the people on the crew list may be aboard.
What should we do if something breaks down?
Contact us immediately using one of the phone numbers in the inventory list. We'll fix any damage or malfunction on notification; if we resolve it within 24 hours there's no claim for reimbursement. For damage, also report it to the harbour master's office and keep a log.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
