Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: All boats are insured against accidents caused on board and civil liability. Opening a liability case for an accident involving third parties costs 500 EUR.
Do I need a sailing licence in Spain?
A recognised sailing licence is required, with an ICC typically requested for non-Spanish skippers chartering a bareboat.
Can I bring my dog or other pets on board?
Unfortunately not. Animals are not allowed on board, so please plan pet care before your trip.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat is for recreational sailing by you, your family, friends or staff only. Sub-leasing, carrying goods or paying passengers, commercial fishing and regattas are not allowed.
What happens if something breaks during my charter?
Contact us right away and we'll send our technical team or authorize the repair. For serious incidents, secure the boat first and then call us for instructions. We only travel to Menorca and Ibiza for failures that stop the boat moving. For other damage, head to any port in Mallorca.
Will I get money back if the boat breaks down?
If a breakdown isn't caused by us, we'll offer a similar boat or a proportional refund minus one day. Refunds are given as a discount on a future charter at any of our bases, and the discount doesn't expire.
What if bad weather makes me late getting back?
Weather is not accepted as a reason for returning late. Each day of delay is charged at double the daily rate, so plan your return with some margin.
When is the best time to sail in Spain?
April–October across the Balearics and Costa Brava; reliable warm summers, busiest in July–August with the occasional afternoon thermal breeze.
