Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Boat insured against all risks with excess covered by deposit. Third party liability covers accidental personal injury and property damage up to EUR 5,000,000.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~114 HP engines burn roughly 9.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 191 L ≈ €327 at €1.71/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Spain?
A recognised sailing licence is required, with an ICC typically requested for non-Spanish skippers chartering a bareboat.
What is included in the charter price?
The price covers use of the yacht and its accessories per the checklist, normal wear and tear, insurance, the dinghy, and the home berth and its associated fees. An outboard is included for catamarans and for sailing yachts of 45 foot and above.
What extras can I add to my charter?
Optional extras you can order include bed linen and towels, an outboard engine for smaller sailing yachts and motorboats, and items such as a Cabrera park permit. These are arranged and paid for separately.
What happens if my booked yacht is not available?
We will provide a yacht of the same or similar type. If only a lower category is available we refund the proportional price difference, or you may choose a full refund of what you have paid for the charter.
What condition is the yacht handed over in, and what do I check?
We hand the yacht over ready to sail, clean, with full water, fuel and gas tanks and all documents. At takeover you carefully check the condition, technical functions and inventory against a checklist and confirm it with your signature.
When is the best time to sail in Spain?
April–October across the Balearics and Costa Brava; reliable warm summers, busiest in July–August with the occasional afternoon thermal breeze.
