Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer liable for all damages to third parties and yacht caused by charterer or crew negligence, including equipment damage and operational errors.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 250 HP engine burn roughly 38 L/h — about €71 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring pets on board?
No, animals may not be brought on board. You also may not carry more people than the agreed crew number.
Can the operator check the skipper's competence?
Yes. Before handing over the yacht, we may verify the skipper's ability and ask in advance for proof of previous experience. If a skipper is clearly unfit to handle the yacht and crew safely, we can provide or arrange a skipper at your cost, or decline to hand over the yacht.
Where and when am I allowed to sail?
You must cruise within Croatian territorial waters; leaving them requires our express consent. We may also restrict the sailing area or impose a night-sailing ban in unsafe conditions. Please note night sailing is not permitted for our motorboats and yachts.
Are there restrictions on how I use the boat?
Without our prior written consent you may not take part in regattas, leave a sheltered harbour when winds of a steady force 7 or more are forecast, or use the yacht for any commercial purpose, professional fishing, sailing school or paid transport. Towing another vessel, or being towed, is allowed only in an emergency.
What condition should I return the boat in?
Please return the yacht ready to sail, with gear stowed, cleaned inside and out, and with a full fuel tank. If it isn't refuelled, a service charge plus the cost of the missing fuel applies; cleaning can be arranged for an extra fee.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
