Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The security deposit covers damages or losses caused by negligence or misuse.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. Estimated from engine power: at a typical planing cruise this boat's 150 HP engine burns roughly 23 L/h — about €45 an hour at €1.95/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
Not personally — this boat requires a skipper, who holds the licence. Generally, though: The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Can I take the helm myself?
All our charters are skippered, and the skipper stays on board for the whole trip. For safety, guests can't operate the vessel at any time, so you can simply relax and enjoy the sailing.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
If conditions are unsafe, the skipper and we may change or cancel the charter. In that case we may offer alternative dates or a partial refund.
What is expected of me and my group on board?
We ask you to follow the skipper's instructions and the safety guidelines at all times. This keeps everyone safe and the trip running smoothly.
Can I add extra services or special requests to my charter?
Yes, any extra services or special conditions are written into the final charter agreement. You sign it before departure, so everything is clear before you set off.
