Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The yacht has all-risk insurance covering third-party damages and damages from force majeure. Sails are not covered, nor is engine damage caused by lack of oil.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~493 HP engine burns roughly 39.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 827 L ≈ €1546 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not personally — this boat requires a skipper, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or diving gear on board?
Animals and diving equipment are not allowed on board by default. If you want to bring either, ask us first, and we can agree it in advance.
Where am I allowed to sail, and how far can I go each day?
You must stay within Croatian territorial waters. Daily navigation is limited to three hours, and you need our approval to go beyond that. Weekly navigation must not exceed 25 hours.
What if the skipper doesn't pass the test drive at pickup?
At takeover the skipper does a test drive with our representative. If we judge that they cannot handle the yacht, even with the right licenses, we may refuse to hand it over and hire a professional skipper at your cost.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
You can't sub-charter the yacht or hand it to a third party, and you shouldn't sail at night in unsafe conditions. You also need to follow all public rules and laws. The number of people on board must match your crew list.
What should I do if something breaks or I'm running late?
Contact us or the base manager straight away, using the numbers in the yacht documents on board. For larger damage or an accident, also report to the Harbour Master's Office and note the details in the log. If you can't make it back on time, tell the base manager. Late disembarkation costs are charged to you, so plan your route carefully.
