Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Lessee is responsible for any loss or damage due to misuse, loss of elements, and delays in delivery.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~110 HP engine burn roughly 8.8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 185 L ≈ €316 at €1.71/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Spain?
A recognised sailing licence is required, with an ICC typically requested for non-Spanish skippers chartering a bareboat.
Can we bring pets on board?
No, we're sorry but animals aren't permitted on board. You may also only carry up to the boat's authorised number of people.
Is smoking allowed on the boat?
Smoking inside the cabin isn't allowed. If you do, a 100 EUR cleaning supplement applies, plus the cost of repairing any damage caused as a result.
What does the skipper do, and can we ask to anchor anywhere?
Your skipper runs the boat, and you'll agree together on rest hours, crossings and refuelling to balance comfort with safe handling. Please don't ask the skipper to leave the boat anchored and unattended in open or unprotected water, as that isn't covered by the boat's insurance.
What should we know about using the toilet?
Please use the marine toilet carefully and never flush toilet paper, wipes, cotton or hygiene items, and don't move the gray-water tank valves. A blockage caused by misuse carries a 450 EUR charge for the repair.
What happens in bad weather?
If conditions turn rough, the skipper may decide it's wise to put into port during the charter for safety. Any port fees in that case are paid by you.
When is the best time to sail in Spain?
April–October across the Balearics and Costa Brava; reliable warm summers, busiest in July–August with the occasional afternoon thermal breeze.
