Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: Vessel carries third party damage and liability insurance (compulsory). Comprehensive insurance provided in amount recorded in policy.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~30 HP engine burn roughly 2.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 50 L ≈ €94 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring a pet on board?
Pets such as cats and dogs are allowed on board only if agreed with us in advance, and an additional charge applies according to our price list.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You may sail only within Croatian territorial waters. Sailing beyond them is permitted only if you obtain a signed permit from us along with any other required documents.
What happens in strong wind or bad weather?
When peak gusts above 25 knots are forecast, you must follow the base management's instructions, whether to sail or to seek safe anchorage. Bad weather is not accepted as a reason for returning the boat late, so please plan accordingly.
Can the operator check my sailing competence?
Yes. We may ask you or your appointed skipper to demonstrate your skills at sea with our representative present, and this time counts as part of the charter. If competence or licensing is found insufficient, we will provide an official skipper at extra charge.
Are racing and towing allowed?
You may not take part in regattas or races without our written permit, and you must not tow another vessel. Please also keep the number of people on board within the limit for your boat type.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
