Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The owner insures the yacht and equipment under Belgian law against fire, marine and collision risks and third-party damage. The charterer is relieved of liability covered by the policy unless the loss or damage was caused or contributed to by gross negligence or wilful default.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~29 HP engine burns roughly 2.3 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 48 L ≈ €84 at €1.75/L — scale it to your own plans.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
This is a bareboat charter, so your party must include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced sailor. The operator may ask you to demonstrate your handling and navigation skills at sea before departure. If you don't pass, the charter can be ended or a skipper placed aboard at your cost, if one is available.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The yacht is for private pleasure use by you and your party only. Racing (unless agreed in writing), towing other boats except in an emergency, and subletting are not allowed. Fishing and customs laws must be respected, and taking archaeological objects is forbidden.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
You must not leave a port or anchorage if the wind is or is forecast to be above Beaufort 6, or if the harbour authorities have banned sailing. If you return late because of weather, the late-return charge still applies. Plan your itinerary with some margin.
How many people can come aboard?
Only people listed on your crew/passenger manifest may be aboard, and the number can't exceed the yacht's official passenger capacity (PAX). Please make sure the list is accurate before departure.
What should I do if something breaks or I have an accident?
Contact us before arranging repairs, since we need to approve them. For damage or an accident, ask the nearest port authority to record what happened and let us know at the same time. If the yacht needs towing, tell us immediately, or agree the price with the other vessel's captain if you can't reach us.
