Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The operator insures the yacht against fines, bad sea conditions, collision, third-party damage and natural events for partial or total loss. The guest and other passengers can take personal travel insurance through the operator at an extra fee.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~40 HP engine burns roughly 3.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 67 L ≈ €101 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can sail within the Aegean and Mediterranean, but not beyond those borders, and not in unknown or poorly charted waters. Plan your route so the farthest port is reached within the first third of the trip, and be no more than 40 miles from the return port two days before arrival.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
The yacht is rented without a captain or crew, so you need an experienced captain and crew. We may ask you to show your competence with a short sailing demo. If we are not convinced, we can require a captain and crew approved by us, at your cost.
What happens if the weather is bad on departure day?
The authorities may not allow departure when wind is Beaufort 6 or more, or when all departures are banned. If a delay is caused by the yacht or its equipment, our delay-of-embarkation terms apply. If it is caused by anything else, such as weather, the consequences are yours.
Can I sail at night or use the boat for racing or towing?
You can sail at night only with all navigation lights on and a lookout posted. Racing and towing another craft are not allowed, except in emergencies, and the yacht is for leisure use only. You also cannot sublet it or lend it to others.
What should I do if something breaks during my charter?
Tell us immediately. We first try to send our own staff, and if that is not possible or takes too long, we suggest a nearby repairer. We refund repair costs against an invoice if the problem was not caused by how you used the yacht.
