Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The company boat is insured under Greek law against third-party liability and accidental damage to hull, machinery and equipment, in excess of the refundable security deposit.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~45 HP engine burns roughly 3.6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 76 L ≈ €148 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
What if my sailing licence isn't accepted?
The port authorities require your licences to be unexpired and in English or officially translated, and they may not accept some certificates such as Day Skipper or motor yacht licences. Send us a copy before you arrive so we can confirm it will be accepted, because without valid documents the boat cannot depart.
What sailing experience does my crew need on a bareboat charter?
At least two crew members need adequate sailing competence. If one of you holds a valid Skipper licence, the co-skipper can show any proof of competence or sign a declaration of sailing competence.
What condition should I return the boat in?
Our Base Manager and a diver inspect the boat at check-out, and the water and fuel tanks are refilled in your presence. You also cover the cost of the end-cleaning.
How do payments work when I book?
Your request is held for 48 hours, then you sign the booking contract and pay a 50% down payment to secure the date. The balance is due 40 days before departure, or the full fare if you book within 39 days of departure.
What if our crew changes before the trip?
Please let us know in good time about any change in your crew, as the charterer is responsible for notifying us of it.
