Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The boat is delivered duly insured under Italian law of 24/12/1969 no. 990.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can sail between good and safe ports within the Western Mediterranean. The boat is also approved for navigation within 50 miles of the coast. Please stay inside the area set out in your contract.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat is for your own cruising only: no carrying paying passengers or goods, no trade, no regattas or races, and no subletting. Towing is only allowed in a real emergency.
What happens if bad weather delays or interrupts my trip?
We can't be held responsible for delays or interrupted cruises caused by bad weather or orders from the maritime authority, and your rental period keeps running even if the boat can't leave port. You also agree not to leave the mooring when conditions or official bans make it unsafe.
What if something breaks or the boat can't be used because of repairs?
If repairs on our side stop you from using the boat for more than 24 consecutive hours, your rental fee doesn't run for that period. If it goes beyond 48 hours, or the boat is lost, you can end the contract and get back what you prepaid for that time.
What happens if I return the boat late or somewhere else?
A late return is charged at one extra day's rental price for each day of delay, unless we agree otherwise. If you return to a different port, or the delay causes us further losses, you cover the cost of moving the boat back to the agreed port.
