Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: The yacht is fully comprehensively insured, with an excess equal to the deposit for each damage event, and liability insured up to EUR 5,000,000 for personal injury and property damage. The charterer bears the excess.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~75 HP engine burns roughly 6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 126 L ≈ €189 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can cruise the Turkish coast between Kusadasi and Antalya and the Greek Dodecanese islands. Going beyond these limits needs our consent. Please note that you may not embark or disembark people in Greece.
Can I take part in races or regattas, or tow other boats?
No, racing and regattas are not permitted. Towing is only allowed in a distress situation or when no other rescue is possible. Carrying passengers or cargo for payment and passing the yacht on to third parties are also not allowed.
What sailing experience do we need?
You or your appointed skipper must have the nautical knowledge and experience to handle the yacht in open waters. If we have doubts at handover, we may ask for a trial trip of several hours at your expense, a change of skipper, or refuse departure. We may also refuse handover to anyone under the influence of alcohol.
How many people can come aboard, and do I need to list them?
You may not carry more people than the yacht is permitted to take. Please give us the names of everyone travelling with you at least 2 weeks before your charter starts.
What happens if bad weather affects my return?
Bad weather does not change the return time, so please stay close to the return port during the last 24 hours of your trip. If you return late, a penalty of double the daily pro rata charter rate applies for each 24 hours of delay, although you may show that we suffered less loss.
